Meet the Candidates of the 2026 Caucus
The District 66 Caucus will be held on Tuesday, February 3. A Caucus is held every two years to nominate up to four individuals for two positions on the Board of Education for Westside Community Schools. The names of up to four individuals receiving the most votes at the Caucus will then be placed on the ballot for the statewide primary election on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from which two candidates will be elected to the Board of Education for a six-year term. WHS Announces AD Leadership Transition
Westside Community Schools has announced a significant leadership transition within the Westside High School activities department. After nearly four decades in education, Activities Director Tom Kerkman will retire at the conclusion of the 2025 -2026 school year. To lead the department into its next chapter, the district has appointed Tola Dada and Brad Metzler as Assistant Principals & Co-Activities Directors, effective this summer. Read Full Announcement.

2025 Phillip & Terri Schrager Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award Winners Announced
Each year, the Phillip and Terri Schrager Foundation honors two deserving Westside Community Schools educators leading the way in innovation in the classroom. On May 23, the 2025 Schrager Distinguished Teaching Awards were presented to two WCS educators: Ben Baber, math teacher at Westside High School, and Linda Safranek, a reading coordinator at Westbrook Elementary.
